Chelsea Football Club today completed an intense and focused training session at the club's state-of-the-art Cobham Training Centre, as the squad ramps up preparations for Saturday's crucial Premier League clash against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Under the guidance of head coach Liam Rosenior, the Blues put in a high-intensity workout on Thursday, following the manager's pre-match press conference earlier in the day. The session emphasized tactical drills, sharpness in possession, defensive organization, and set-piece work—key areas as Chelsea seek to bounce back from recent disappointing results and secure vital points in their push for a strong end to the campaign.

The training pitch at Cobham buzzed with energy, with players fully committed to the task ahead. Rosenior, who addressed the media on team news and squad mentality, stressed the group's resilience and determination to "put things right" on the road. The boss confirmed several absences for the trip to Merseyside: defenders **Trevoh Chalobah** and club captain **Reece James**, along with goalkeeper **Filip Jorgensen**, remain sidelined through injury and will miss the fixture.

On a brighter note, centre-back **Levi Colwill** made encouraging progress in his recovery from a pre-season knee ligament injury. The England international was pictured participating in first-team training, though Rosenior urged patience, noting that while his presence around the group is a boost, a competitive return is not imminent.

The squad's focus remains squarely on Everton—a team known for their physicality and home resilience in their new riverside venue. This marks Chelsea's first-ever visit to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, adding extra motivation as the Blues aim to deliver a positive performance and three valuable points in what promises to be a tightly contested encounter.

Kick-off is scheduled for 5:30pm GMT on Saturday, March 21, with live coverage available on standard Premier League broadcast partners. Chelsea supporters worldwide are urged to back the team from afar—Come on you Blues!

Reece James extends contract until 2032

Chelsea FC is delighted to announce that men’s team captain Reece James has signed a new long-term contract with the club, committing his future to Stamford Bridge until June 2032.

The 26-year-old academy graduate, who has been with Chelsea since the age of six, penned a six-year extension that aligns him with the club’s incentivized wage structure introduced following the 2022 takeover. James’ previous agreement was set to expire in June 2028.

A product of the Chelsea youth system, James made his first-team debut in September 2019 and has since established himself as one of the Premier League’s premier right-backs, known for his exceptional defensive qualities, attacking contributions, versatility, and leadership. Despite facing injury challenges in recent seasons, James has shown remarkable resilience and form in the current campaign, making significant appearances and earning praise for rejuvenating his career.

Upon signing the deal, Reece James said: “I am over the moon to have extended my contract - Chelsea means so much to me. I have always said I want my peak years to be here, and I truly believe we have everything it takes to build on our previous successes.”

Head coach Liam Rosenior expressed his delight, stating that the club has “secured the best footballer in the world in his position.” Sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart added: “On behalf of ownership and everyone connected to Chelsea, it is a proud moment for all of us to have Reece extend his contract.”

This agreement represents a major boost for Chelsea, securing the long-term services of their club captain during what are expected to be his prime years. James, an England international and the team’s highest-paid player, continues to embody the club’s values of loyalty, determination, and ambition.

Chelsea FC looks forward to Reece James leading the team in pursuit of further domestic and European success in the years ahead.

LIAM ROSENIOR EXPRESSES HOPE FOR LEVI COLWILL'S RETURN THIS SEASON AMID ONGOING RECOVERY

LIAM ROSENIOR EXPRESSES HOPE FOR LEVI COLWILL'S RETURN THIS SEASON AMID ONGOING RECOVERY

**Chelsea Head Coach Liam Rosenior has provided an encouraging update on defender Levi Colwill's rehabilitation from a serious knee injury, stating he remains hopeful the England international could feature again before the end of the 2025/26 campaign.**

Colwill, 22, has been sidelined since suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) rupture during pre-season in August 2025, raising initial doubts about his participation this term. However, recent progress has seen the centre-back return to light training on the pitch at Cobham, including running exercises, as part of a carefully managed recovery program.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea's upcoming fixtures, Rosenior addressed Colwill's status: "I'm hopeful. I'm hopeful because he's an outstanding player. Again, no time frames. You have to take these long-term injuries day by day. And also, it's not about when he comes back, it's about him staying fit when he is back." He added, "It’s step by step, and I don’t want to make promises that I can’t keep. At the moment, Levi is in a really good place. He’s on the right track, but I don’t want to put pressure on him. It's been brilliant to see him back on the pitch running. He is itching to get back, but we need to make sure he feels 100 per cent perfect."

Rosenior emphasized the club's cautious approach, prioritizing Colwill's long-term health over a rushed return. "He's really good. What a professional. He's working so hard," the coach noted, highlighting the defender's dedication.

Colwill's potential comeback would provide a significant boost to Chelsea's defensive options as they compete in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and domestic cups. The academy graduate, who has earned caps for England, is seen as a cornerstone of the squad's future.

The club will continue to monitor Colwill's progress closely, with no specific return date announced at this time. Further updates will be provided as developments occur.

ESTEVÃO WILLAN SHARES CANDID INSIGHTS ON ADAPTING TO LIFE IN ENGLAND

Chelsea's young Brazilian star Estêvão Willian has opened up about his transition to life in west London, revealing that the English weather has posed his toughest challenge since joining the club.**

The 18-year-old winger, who arrived from Palmeiras in the summer of 2025 in a deal worth up to £51 million, has been making waves on the pitch with his dazzling skills and maturity beyond his years. However, in an exclusive interview with Chelsea FC, Estêvão highlighted the stark contrast between his native Brazil and the UK climate as a key adjustment.

"The hardest challenge at Chelsea has been the weather! I even saw snow for the first time recently," Estêvão said. "The sun and heat are standard almost all year in Brazil, but even when it’s cold there, it’s nothing like the temperatures here! The winter has been cold, but even though it’s very different from Brazil, I’m getting used to it. My family have been very important over this time. Over Christmas, for example, I was with them, and it was great because we were together."

Despite the frosty conditions, Estêvão has embraced the change and credits the club's support system for helping him settle. The teenager, nicknamed 'Messinho' for his stylistic similarities to Lionel Messi, has already featured in several first-team matches this season, contributing goals and assists as Chelsea push for silverware across multiple competitions.

Head Coach [Current Head Coach] praised Estêvão's resilience: "He's a special talent, and adapting to a new country at such a young age isn't easy. The weather might be a shock, but his attitude and work ethic are warming up the training ground."

Chelsea remains committed to supporting its international players through cultural and environmental transitions, ensuring they thrive both on and off the pitch.

ROMEO LAVIA NEARS FIRST-TEAM RETURN AFTER SUCCESSFUL UNDER-21 COMEBACK

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has taken a major step towards his long-awaited first-team return, completing 45 minutes for the Under-21s in a 2-2 Premier League 2 draw against Leeds United at Cobham this afternoon.**

The 22-year-old Belgian international made his first competitive appearance in more than three months after suffering a thigh injury just eight minutes into Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League match away to Qarabag on 5 November 2025.

Lavia started in midfield alongside Harrison McMahon and Reggie Walsh in a 4-3-3 formation and delivered a composed, assured performance, bringing control and quality to the centre of the pitch. He was withdrawn at half-time as part of Chelsea’s careful management of his recovery, having helped the young Blues lead 2-0 before Leeds fought back for a share of the spoils.

Head Coach Liam Rosenior and several first-team players, including Levi Colwill, Liam Delap, Cole Palmer and Tosin Adarabioyo, were among those watching from the sidelines as Lavia continued his rehabilitation.

Rosenior has been overseeing a detailed, individualised plan for the midfielder, who returned to first-team training over the past fortnight. The club is taking a cautious approach to ensure Lavia returns “for good” and avoids any further setbacks.

Speaking on the process, Rosenior emphasised the importance of patience: “We have a really detailed plan for him so that when he returns, he returns for good.”

Lavia’s return will be a significant boost for the Chelsea squad as they enter the business end of the 2025/26 season. The highly-rated defensive midfielder, signed from Southampton in August 2023, has shown his immense quality in limited appearances and remains a key part of the club’s long-term vision.

Chelsea will continue to monitor Lavia’s progress closely in the coming days as he builds towards full first-team integration. No specific return date has been set.
