⚠️ Liam Rosenior: “Estevão will not play this weekend again, he is still a little bit further away”.

Chelsea FC head coach Liam Rosenior has provided a cautious update on young winger Estevão Willian, confirming that the Brazilian talent will miss this weekend’s Premier League fixture due to his ongoing recovery from a hamstring injury.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge, Rosenior stated: “Estevão will not play this weekend again, he is still a little bit further away. We want to be careful with Estevão because of the nature of his hamstring injury.”

The 18-year-old, who joined Chelsea from Palmeiras and has already shown immense promise with his flair, pace, and creativity on the wing, has been sidelined since picking up the hamstring issue earlier in the season. Despite recent positive signs—including a return to on-pitch training and progress in clearing recovery markers—the club is adopting a measured approach to avoid any risk of reoccurrence at this crucial stage of the campaign.

Rosenior emphasised the club’s priority to protect the young star’s long-term fitness: “We need to be really careful. He’s making good progress, but we don’t want to rush him back and see the issue flare up again. It’s about getting him fully ready so he can contribute consistently when he returns.”

Estevão has missed several recent matches, including fixtures against Brentford, Wrexham, Aston Villa, and others, but his gradual steps forward have been encouraging for fans and staff alike. The head coach remains optimistic about his imminent involvement with the first-team group, though no specific return date has been confirmed beyond the need for a few more clearance steps.

This update comes as Chelsea continue to manage a number of injury situations carefully while pushing for strong results in the Premier League and European competitions. Rosenior praised the squad’s depth and resilience in coping with absences, but acknowledged that Estevão’s return will be a significant boost given his quality and potential.

Chelsea FC remains fully committed to Estevão’s development and well-being, ensuring he is reintegrated at the right time to maximise his impact in blue.
