Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has been named in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the clashes with Uruguay and Japan.

The England national team has today announced the squad for the upcoming international friendly double-header at Wembley Stadium, with Chelsea’s star attacker Cole Palmer included in the selection.

The Three Lions will face Uruguay on Friday, 27 March 2026 (kick-off 19:45 GMT), followed by Japan on Tuesday, 31 March 2026 (kick-off 19:45 GMT). These matches form part of the preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, serving as key opportunities for head coach Thomas Tuchel to assess players in the final international window before naming his tournament squad.

Cole Palmer’s inclusion marks a significant boost for England, with the 23-year-old creative midfielder having been a standout performer for Chelsea in recent seasons. Known for his composure under pressure, precise finishing, and ability to unlock defences — earning him the popular moniker “Cold Palmer” — he brings versatility and flair to the attacking options.

Despite a challenging period earlier in the campaign marked by injury concerns and form questions, Palmer’s recent contributions at club level have earned him a recall. His selection highlights Tuchel’s confidence in the playmaker’s quality as England build momentum toward the World Cup, where they are drawn in Group L alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama.

Cole Palmer said: “It’s always an honour to represent England, especially at Wembley in front of the home fans. These games are massive for us as a team to fine-tune things before the summer. I’m excited to get back in the squad, work hard, and help the team perform.”

Head coach Thomas Tuchel added: “Cole is a special talent with the ability to change games in an instant. His inclusion reflects his quality and the impact we know he can have. This double-header gives us valuable time on the pitch to prepare thoroughly.”

Tickets for both matches are on sale via the official England channels, with Wembley Stadium expected to provide an electric atmosphere for what promises to be two compelling send-off fixtures.
