Chelsea Football Club today addresses ongoing media speculation and contract-related rumours concerning midfielder Enzo Fernández

Chelsea Football Club today addresses ongoing media speculation and contract-related rumours concerning midfielder Enzo Fernández, which have intensified following the club’s elimination from the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League.

The 25-year-old Argentine international remains a cornerstone of the Chelsea squad. Since joining the club from Benfica in January 2023 for a then-British record fee, Fernández has made over 150 appearances across all competitions, consistently delivering high-level performances as both a creative force and leader in midfield. This season alone he has registered 12 goals and 6 assists while captaining the side in several key matches.

His long-term contract with Chelsea runs until 2032. The club has no plans to sell the player and views him as central to the long-term project under the current ownership and coaching staff. Recent reports suggesting an imminent departure or major contract renegotiation do not reflect Chelsea’s position.

Club sources confirm that any discussions around improved terms are standard for a player of Fernández’s calibre and contribution, but no decision has been taken that alters his status at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea remains fully committed to building around Enzo alongside fellow key midfielders.

Head Coach Liam Rosenior commented:
“Enzo is an exceptional talent and a big part of everything we are trying to achieve here. Like the entire squad, our focus right now is on the eight remaining Premier League fixtures and our FA Cup campaign. We are all pulling in the same direction to finish the season strongly.”

Enzo Fernández, speaking immediately after Tuesday’s Champions League match, emphasised his immediate priorities:
“Right now I’m only thinking about the Premier League; we’ve got eight games left to play, and then there’s the FA Cup. In June there’s the World Cup; we’ll see what happens after that.”

Chelsea Football Club thanks Enzo for his continued professionalism and dedication. We look forward to him playing a pivotal role in the decisive weeks ahead as we chase Champions League qualification for 2026/27 and silverware in the FA Cup.
