Things most Chelsea fans STILL don’t know about Mamadou Sarr

 

1. He’s only 20 but already an AFCON winner! 🏆 Lifted the Africa Cup of Nations trophy with Senegal recently—early silverware experience.

2. Nicknamed ‘Junior Van Dijk’ at Lyon for his composure, height (6ft 4in) and ball-playing ability. Many see him as a future world-class centre-back.

3. Became vice-captain at Strasbourg at just 19—extra responsibility that matured him quickly. Prefers leading by example over vocal leadership.

4. Born in Martigues, southern France, but represents Senegal internationally. His dad was a professional footballer, so football runs in the family.

5. Signed an eight-year deal with Chelsea in summer 2025—shows huge long-term faith from the club. Debuted in the Club World Cup (which we won!), then loaned back to Strasbourg before being recalled.

6. Made his full Chelsea debut in the FA Cup against Hull—helped keep a clean sheet in a 4-0 win. The intensity (long balls, physical) challenged him, but he was thrilled to start for the Blues.
