Chelsea’s stance on sacking beleaguered boss Liam Rosenior has been revealed, with the Blues enduring a dismal run of four consecutive defeats across Premier League and Champions League competition. Dreams of European glory have been dashed for another year, with Rosenior under pressure to ensure that elite continental action returns to Stamford Bridge in 2026-27.

Inevitable questions are being asked of how long Rosenior will be given to get things right, with Chelsea having never been afraid to make changes in their dugout. They are under scrutiny this season after tinkering with their starting XI on a weekly basis and being outrun by every opponent that they have faced in the Premier League.

Rosenior is not, however, considered to be under immediate threat of losing his job. Fabrizio Romano has said, in an update on his YouTube channel: “The message I have from Chelsea is there's no imminent change on Liam Rosenior, and they still support him. This isn't a squad built for him, so there are some points to remember when it's time to judge him. They want to be in the Champions League next season.”

That is a stance backed up by BBC Sport, with Rosenior being tipped to see out a bid for a top-five finish and the right to grace the Champions League stage next season. They state that: “Qualification for the competition is the single biggest way for a major club to boost its bottom line. TV income, prize money and matchday revenue are far greater than those generated in the Europa League or Conference League.

“It is especially important for Chelsea, who still lack a long‑term front‑of‑shirt sponsor and whose stadium, Stamford Bridge, lags behind the bigger and more modern grounds used by many of their league rivals.

“It's for all these reasons that before the season, the primary club target for former boss Maresca was to qualify for next season's Champions League. And for Rosenior, who was expected to bring stability, that is the continued expectation.”

Rosenior has been around the game long enough to know that it is advisable to turn blind eyes and deaf ears to any rumours. He told Match of the Day after witnessing an abject performance at Everton: “I don't focus on the noise. I know the reality of where I'm at and where we are at as a club and what we can achieve, which is still some amazing things. It's been a really testing period for these lads. We've had a lot of setbacks and we have to dust ourselves down and make sure we come back fighting.”

He went on to tell BBC Radio 5 Live: “What I need to do better is make better decisions in terms of team selections, how we freshen up the team and rotate the team to make sure we are competitive in these games. Having the international break has probably come at a perfect time for us to gather and restock. We also have some clear weeks to get on the training pitch to work on what we want.”

With domestic action shutting down, Chelsea will not take to the field again until playing host to League One strugglers Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-finals on April 4. Sitting sixth in the table, they have seven Premier League fixtures left to take in this term.

Pop sensation Chappell Roan has responded to accusations from former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Jorginho that disrespectful treatment on her part left the ex-Italy international’s stepdaughter in tears. Jorginho is now on the books of Flamengo in Brazil and has called out Roan’s security team for their heavy-handed approach to dealing with fans.

Jorginho is stepfather to 11-year-old Ada - whose father is Hollywood actor Jude Law. He married Catherine Harding - a former flame of 'Alfie' and 'The Holiday' star Law - in 2025. They have a son, Jax, together.

The 34-year-old is a household name in his own right, as a European Championship and Champions League winner, and is accustomed to the demands of being a celebrity. He has been left less than impressed by ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer Roan.

Having crossed paths with the 28-year-old in Sao Paulo, Jorginho took to Instagram in order to make the world aware of how a supposed role model to millions around the world has taken to treating young fans.

He posted: “I went through a very upsetting situation with my family earlier today. My wife is in Sao Paulo for Lollapalooza Brasil. This morning, my daughter woke up incredibly excited. She even made a sign because she was so happy to see an artist she really admires, or used to admire.

“She simply walked past the singer's table, looked to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to sit with her mum. She didn't say anything, didn't ask for anything.”

He added how a “large security guard” subsequently “came over to their table while they were still having breakfast and began speaking in an extremely aggressive manner to both my wife and my daughter, saying that she shouldn't allow my daughter to 'disrespect' or 'harass' other people.

“He even said he would file a complaint against them with the hotel, while my 11-year-old daughter was sitting there in tears. My daughter was extremely shaken and cried a lot.”

Grammy Award winner Roan has now reacted to the comments from Jorginho, with lively debate being sparked on social media regarding her behaviour and how famous faces should treat starry-eyed supporters.

She claims to have been completely unaware of the incident in question, with no requests being made on her part when it comes to security officials. She was not bothered by anybody while in Brazil and claims that any staff members that approached Jorginho’s family were not ordered to do so by her.

In her own social post, released via Instagram Stories, Roan said: “I did not ask the security guard to go up to this mother and child. They didn't come up to me. They weren't doing anything. It's unfair for security to just assume someone doesn't have good intentions, when they don't have reason to believe, because there's no action even taken.”

Jorginho, who helped Flamengo to Copa Libertadores glory in 2025, is under contract in his current surroundings until the summer of 2028. Despite earning 57 international caps for Italy, the classy midfielder was born in the southern Brazilian town of Imbituba.

Liam Rosenior has indicated he needs to make changes to his Chelsea starting XI after another string of errors against Everton.

In similar fashion to their 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United last week, the Blues were undone by a simple ball through the middle in their 3-0 loss.

Beto was on hand to chip the ball past Robert Sanchez, and later hit a powerful strike that sneaked under the goalkeeper for his second.

Iliman Ndiaye then scored an excellent curling strike for the third goal after Chelsea lost an aerial battle from a goal kick on 76 minutes.

It was their fourth consecutive defeat across all competitions in what has been a nightmare couple of weeks at Stamford Bridge.

Rosenior, who talkSPORT's Rory Jennings believes should be sacked, is facing increased pressure just two months after joining the club.

Rose-tinted view

Speaking to talkSPORT after the match, he acknowledged the errors that his side made and vowed to work on eradicating them.

He said: "I take responsibility. I need to pick a team of players in moments that don't make the costly errors that we're making, and I also need to help the team do that.

"We'll sit down and analyse how we go about games. We changed the system a little bit, we weren't so aggressive in our press, I think it actually worked quite well, we had control of the game.

"In the moment of the first goal, we looked like the team more likely to score. That's happened too many times, and that's something that needs to change."

Chelsea are now off for the March international break, and will return on April 4 to face Port Vale in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Rosenior believes the players heading on duty for their countries will be able to take their minds of the club's form in the next two weeks

He remarked: "I think for them, maybe a change is as good as a rest, to get away with their international teams and come back mentally refreshed and refocused may help them.

"And it also gives me and my staff time as well. We've played, I think, 20 games in ten weeks, something like that, I don't know the exact number.

"But now we have a real, clear amount of time to analyse things, talk and make sure we come back stronger in the run-in."

Everton rub it in

Whilst Chelsea and their continued poor run of form makes the headlines, Everton have taken a huge step towards European football.

They are only two points adrift off sixth, which would see them reach the Conference League play-off round.

Soon after full-time, they made a cheeky dig towards Chelsea with an image of Jake O'Brien holding the ball posted on social media.

The caption read 'Respecting the ball', which is a reference to what Rosenior said about his team's pre-match huddle against Newcastle.

It caused controversy as the Chelsea players stood around the referee Paul Tierney on the centre circle.

Chelsea have not repeated it since then, although the huddle against Everton was done in close proximity.

All in all, right now, it is not clicking in attack for Chelsea. Liam Rosenior will also be concerned about what is happening in defence, especially with games against Manchester City and Manchester United to come.
