Luis Enrique 🗣️“Chelsea are one of the strongest teams we could face in Europe right now.

They have enormous quality across the pitch, players who are comfortable on the ball and dangerous in space, and a squad capable of competing for the Champions League. When you watch them, you see a team full of confidence and intensity, and that makes them very difficult to play against.

At the moment we are not in our best moment. Our confidence has taken some hits and confidence is not something you can buy in a shop, you have to rebuild it step by step with performances and results. But this is football at the highest level and games like this are exactly what help a team grow again.

People may talk about revenge because Chelsea beat us before, but for me this is not about revenge. That was a different competition, a different moment, and football moves forward very quickly. This is the Champions League and it is simply another big challenge.

Chelsea are a top team, but we are Paris Saint-Germain. We respect them, of course, but we are not afraid of anyone. When our team plays at its best level, we believe we can compete with any club in Europe.”

Joao Pedro explains new Chelsea manager impact

🗣️ Joao Pedro: "I came here to help. I believe I have been showing good form. When the new manager arrived, we had several conversations.

He told me he already knew who I was and wanted to help me develop. That's something I like to hear from a coach because without that feedback, it's easy to become complacent."

Chelsea and England defender Levi Colwill has launched an inspiring nationwide initiative to reignite children’s love of reading for pleasure,

In a heartening show of commitment to education and youth development, Chelsea FC and England international Levi Colwill has partnered with acclaimed UK education platform StoryZoo to provide free, unrestricted access to thousands of engaging e-books, audiobooks, and literacy resources. The programme, which offers around 1,000 titles, aims to remove financial barriers that have contributed to a sharp decline in reading enjoyment among young children amid rising costs and educational challenges.

Launched on World Book Day, the initiative was marked by Colwill personally visiting St Mary’s School in Southampton—near where he grew up—to lead a school assembly, interact with pupils, and kick off a national reading challenge. The defender encouraged children across the country to rediscover the joy of reading purely for pleasure, not just for school requirements.

Speaking about the project, Colwill emphasized his desire to make reading accessible and fun again: “I want to remove any financial barriers and help make reading more enjoyable for kids. If I can change one life through this, that’s enough for me.”

The programme is expected to benefit millions of primary school pupils and support teachers by providing high-quality digital content that can be used both in the classroom and at home. By partnering with StoryZoo, Colwill is helping address broader concerns over declining reading habits in the UK, ensuring that every primary school—regardless of location or resources—can join the effort to foster lifelong readers.

This initiative highlights Colwill’s dedication to using his platform for positive impact beyond the football pitch. Schools interested in signing up can visit the StoryZoo website to access the free resources immediately.

João Pedro Maintains Red-Hot Form as Chelsea Edge Past Wrexham in FA Cup Thriller

Chelsea forward João Pedro continued his sensational scoring streak, netting the decisive goal in extra time to secure a 4-2 victory over Wrexham AFC in the Emirates FA Cup fifth round at the STōK Cae Ras on Saturday evening.

The Brazilian substitute struck in the 120+5th minute with a composed right-footed finish from the centre of the box, sealing Chelsea’s progression to the quarter-finals after a pulsating encounter that went the distance. It marked yet another goal in a remarkable run of form for the 24-year-old, who has been in unstoppable scoring touch throughout the 2025/26 campaign.

Pedro came off the bench in the second half and made an immediate impact, weaving through the Wrexham defence before sliding his shot past goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo to cap a hard-fought win. The goal was his latest contribution in a season where he has already tallied impressive numbers across all competitions, including a memorable Premier League hat-trick against Aston Villa just days earlier on March 5.

Chelsea twice fought back from deficits in a match full of drama. Wrexham took the lead through Sam Smith (18’) before an own goal from Okonkwo (40’) levelled matters. Callum Doyle restored the hosts’ advantage in the 78th minute, but Josh Acheampong equalised swiftly (82’). After Wrexham’s George Dobson was sent off in stoppage time, extra time saw Alejandro Garnacho put Chelsea ahead (96’) before Pedro’s late strike removed any doubt.

Head Coach Liam Rosenior hailed Pedro’s impact post-match:

“João is showing exactly why we brought him here. His composure, movement, and clinical finishing are top class. Coming on in a tough away tie against a side fighting for everything and delivering that moment of quality speaks volumes about his mentality. He’s in a rich vein of form, and we’re delighted to have him leading the line.”

The victory keeps Chelsea’s FA Cup ambitions alive as they chase a ninth title in the competition. Pedro’s goal adds to his growing reputation as one of the Premier League’s most in-form attackers this season, with consistent contributions helping drive the Blues forward in domestic and cup competitions.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson paid tribute to his team’s effort despite the defeat:

“We pushed a strong Premier League side to the limit and created memories for our fans. João Pedro showed his quality at the end, but our players can be proud of how they performed.”

Chelsea now turn their attention to the FA Cup quarter-final draw while maintaining momentum in their push for success on multiple fronts.

Chelsea Advance to FA Cup Quarter-Finals After Dramatic Extra-Time Victory Over Wrexham

Chelsea FC secured their place in the Emirates FA Cup quarter-finals with a hard-fought 4-2 extra-time win over Wrexham AFC in a thrilling fifth-round clash at the STōK Cae Ras on Saturday.

The Premier League side twice came from behind against a resilient Championship outfit, eventually prevailing in a match that went the full 120 minutes and showcased the magic of the world’s oldest cup competition.

Wrexham took an early lead in the 18th minute through Sam Smith, stunning the traveling Chelsea supporters. The Blues responded before halftime when an own goal from Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo in the 40th minute leveled the scores at 1-1.

The second half saw further drama as Wrexham’s Callum Doyle equalized in the 78th minute, but Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong restored parity just four minutes later with a goal in the 82nd minute. Wrexham were reduced to ten men late in normal time following a red card to Elliot Lee (reported in some sources as Dobson), setting the stage for extra time.

In the additional period, Alejandro Garnacho put Chelsea ahead for the first time in the 96th minute with a clinical finish. João Pedro then sealed the victory with a composed strike in the 120+5th minute, ensuring the Blues’ progression.

Head Coach Liam Rosenior praised his team’s resilience after the match:

“This was a real test of character against a very good Wrexham side playing with incredible spirit in front of their passionate fans. We showed quality when it mattered and kept pushing right until the end. Credit to Wrexham—they made it extremely difficult, but we’re delighted to be in the quarter-finals.”

Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson reflected on the performance:

“The lads gave everything and can hold their heads high. They pushed a top Premier League team all the way and created a memorable occasion. While disappointing to exit, this run has been fantastic for the club.”

Chelsea now advance to the quarter-finals, where they await the draw to discover their next opponents. The victory keeps the Blues’ hopes alive of lifting the FA Cup for a ninth time in their history.

Final EPL Table and Review After Today’s Matches As Chelsea Close In On Third & Man City Drops Point

Chelsea Football Club are closing in on a coveted top-four spot in the Premier League, while fierce rivals Manchester United suffered a setback in their push for Champions League qualification. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur find themselves mired in a desperate battle to avoid relegation.

Chelsea Surge Toward Champions League Return

In a commanding display on March 4, 2026, Chelsea dismantled Aston Villa with a convincing 4-1 victory away from home. Joao Pedro stole the show with a sensational hat-trick, showcasing clinical finishing and intelligent movement that overwhelmed the Villa defense. The result propelled Chelsea to 48 points from 29 matches, placing them fifth in the table with a strong +19 goal difference. Chelsea Football Club are closing in on a coveted top-four spot in the Premier League, while fierce rivals Manchester United suffered a setback in their push for Champions League qualification. Joao Pedro stole the show with a sensational hat-trick, showcasing clinical finishing and intelligent movement that overwhelmed the Villa defense. The result propelled Chelsea to 48 points from 29 matches, placing them fifth in the table with a strong +19 goal difference.

The Blues now sit just three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa (51 points) and level on points with sixth-placed Liverpool (also 48 points), but with superior goal metrics positioning them favorably in the race for European spots. Chelsea’s recent form has been impressive, highlighting their growing momentum under the current management as they eye a return to the UEFA Champions League.

Manchester United Stumble at Newcastle

Manchester United’s hopes of solidifying their top-four position took a hit with a narrow 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on March 4, 2026, at St. James’ Park. Despite facing a ten-man Newcastle side, United conceded a stoppage-time winner from substitute William Osula, marking manager Michael Carrick’s first loss since taking charge.

The Red Devils remain in third place with 51 points from 29 games (+11 GD), tied on points with Aston Villa but ahead on goal difference. However, the loss halts their recent positive run and provides breathing room for pursuers like Chelsea.

Tottenham’s Relegation Nightmare Intensifies

At the opposite end of the table, Tottenham Hotspur are engulfed in a genuine relegation scrap—a scenario unthinkable for the north London club in recent decades. Sitting 16th with around 29-31 points after 28-29 matches, Spurs are just four points above the drop zone, having failed to secure a Premier League victory in 2026 so far.

Recent defeats, including losses to Fulham, Arsenal, and others, have compounded their woes amid a lengthy injury crisis and managerial challenges under Igor Tudor. With tough fixtures ahead and wage-cut clauses looming in the event of relegation, Tottenham face a battle for survival as they aim to avoid dropping to the Championship for the first time since 1977.

As the 2025/26 Premier League season enters its crucial final stretch, the contrasts could hardly be starker: Chelsea building momentum for glory, Manchester United regrouping after a painful defeat, and Tottenham fighting for their top-flight status.
